Cubes, sticks, pops or chili chews: picking a Winis format to share
Winis makes one chewy candy in five shapes, and each shares in its own way. The cubes, sticks, pops, chili chews and the Mix bag each suit a different job: a bowl, a piñata or a goodie bag.

1Five shapes of one chewy candy
Winis makes chewy candy in more shapes than most people expect. There are small wrapped cubes, long swirled sticks and taffy on a stick. There are sour chews with chili, and there is a big mixed bag that throws several shapes together. Each one shares in a different way, and at a party the shape matters as much as the flavor.
Think about how the candy leaves your hands. A bowl on a coffee table wants pieces that people grab one at a time. A goodie bag wants pieces you can count out evenly. A piñata or an Easter basket wants pieces that survive a drop and still look fun.

All five Winis formats come individually wrapped, and that settles the first worry for most hosts. A kid can take one piece from a shared bowl without handling the others. At the end of the night, leftovers go back in the bag with their wrappers still sealed.
Wrappers do leave trash behind. Put a small bin or an empty cup next to the bowl, or the couch cushions will collect them by morning. Kids at a party drop wrappers where they stand, so a bin at their height helps more than a speech about tidying up.
The five formats share a few label facts too. The brand’s product notes say the candy has no high-fructose corn syrup, peanuts or tree nuts, and Original and Acid Up name soy. Past that, they part ways in size, count, flavor and price per piece. The price gap per piece is wider than the bag prices suggest, because the bags hold such different counts.
| Format | Shape | Flavor | Pieces per pack | Fits best |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Original Chewy Candy | Small square chews in bright wrappers | Grape, orange, lime and cherry | 50, 100, 150 or 300 | Bowls, goodie bags, classroom counts |
| Unicorn Chewy Candy Sticks | Long pink, blue and yellow swirls | Cotton candy | 11 or 55 | Piñatas, prizes, one big piece each |
| Unicorn Chewy Taffy Pops | Swirled taffy on a stick | Cotton candy | 15 or 30 | Party cups and handouts at a table |
| Acid Up Sour & Spicy Chewy Candy | Small rolls in pink and yellow twists | Pineapple, orange and cherry, all with chili | 60 | Teens and adults who like heat |
| Winis Mix Variety Bag | Pops, sticks and minis together | Grape, cherry, raspberry, apple, strawberry and surprises | 150 | Baskets, pails, big events |
None of the five suits every crowd. A table of small kids, a room of teenagers and a group of adults who like heat each want a different bag. The right pick starts with who will eat it and how they will reach for it.
Game night is a good test. Players eat with one hand and keep their eyes on the screen, so they want a piece they can unwrap by feel. Cubes and small rolls pass that test. A pop leaves a stick on the couch, and a long swirl stick takes two hands to open.
All five formats come from one maker. The packs name KlassCo, and the business changed hands in 2026, as a filing with the U.S. SEC records: On September 1, 2026, Tutsi, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. (the “Company”), completed the acquisition of the confectionery business of The Klass Company in Mexico, including the Winis brand.
U.S. SEC (EDGAR) The candy in the bags stays the same mix of shapes and flavors.
2Wrapped cubes: Original for bowls and goodie bags
Original Chewy Candy is the plain workhorse of the range. Each square chew comes in its own bright wrapper, and a bag mixes four fruit flavors: grape, orange, lime and cherry. The label serving is 13 pieces (30 g), so one cube is small. A 4 oz bag holds 50 of them, and the 12 oz bag holds 150.
Small pieces are the point. A cube suits a bowl where people graze, because nobody has to commit to a whole bar. It suits a goodie bag too, since you can split a big bag into even handfuls without a knife or a scale. You count them out.
A bowl works best when you refill it. Pour out a third of a 150-piece bag, set the rest aside and top up the bowl as it empties. The bowl always looks full, and the pieces in reserve stay sealed in the bag.

See This Bag on AmazonCounting out is where cubes earn their place. Ten guests at five pieces each need 50 pieces, and the smallest Original bag holds 50. A class party with 30 kids at ten pieces each needs 300, and the biggest Original pack holds 300. No other Winis format gets you that many pieces per bag.
Cubes have limits, though: one cube is a small bite, so a guest who wants one big candy will open three or four. The four flavors come mixed, so a kid who only eats cherry ends up digging through the bowl. And next to a swirl stick in a piñata haul, a cube looks plain. If the candy is the prize, a bigger shape lands better.
Original also names soy on its shop page, so a guest with a soy allergy should skip the bowl. Read the allergen line on the bag in hand before a class party, since parents will ask.
3Sticks and pops: the Unicorn pair
The Unicorn line takes one flavor, cotton candy, and puts it in two shapes. Unicorn Chewy Candy Sticks are long swirls in pink, blue and yellow, eleven to a 4.3 oz bag. Each stick weighs 0.39 oz (11 g) and comes in its own purple wrapper.
The name and the colors make the sticks an easy fit for a unicorn birthday. Pink, blue and yellow swirls match most party plates and balloons in that theme, and a stick in each guest’s hand looks like part of the decor.
Sticks look big in a hand and big in a photo. That makes them a strong piñata filler and a fair prize for a game. It also means fewer pieces per bag: one bag covers eleven guests at one stick each. A stick weighs about as much as five Original cubes, so one stick reads as a full portion.

See This Bag on AmazonUnicorn Chewy Taffy Pops put the same flavor on a stick, fifteen to a 4.3 oz bag. Each pop has its own wrapper. A kid holds the stick, not the candy, and that makes pops easy to hand out at a table.
You can stand a handful of pops in a cup, like a bunch of flowers, and let guests pull one. Set a second cup beside it for the empty sticks and wrappers. For a party of 15 kids, one bag gives each child a pop, and the biggest pops pack holds 30.
A bag of pops holds four more pieces than a bag of sticks. On the label, four pops make one serving, while three sticks do. So a pop is the smaller bite of the two.

See This Bag on AmazonNeither Unicorn shape splits well. You can’t share half a stick, and a pop is one pop. If you fill 20 small bags with three pieces each, sticks run out fast. Cotton candy is also the only flavor, so a kid who wants fruit or sour gets nothing else from these two bags.
Both shapes are chewy and sticky, and that rules out the youngest guests. The CDC’s advice on feeding babies and toddlers is direct: Avoid small, sticky, or hard foods that are difficult to chew and swallow.
CDC Its list of foods that can choke a young child includes Chewy fruit snacks.
CDC The FDA’s Halloween advice points the same way: Choking hazards: If you have very young children, be sure to remove any choking hazards such as gum, peanuts, hard candies, or small toys.
U.S. FDA
4Sour and spicy: Acid Up and the chili question
Acid Up Sour & Spicy Chewy Candy is the Winis format for people who want a kick. The chews come in pineapple, orange and cherry, and each flavor carries chili. The pieces are small wrapped rolls in pink and yellow twists, 0.13 oz each, thirty to a 4 oz bag. A roll that small suits a desk drawer or a jacket pocket: you open one and the rest stay put.
Fruit with chili is a familiar pairing in Mexican candy. A bowl of Acid Up next to a bowl of fruit cubes gives a mixed crowd a real choice. The pack on sale holds 60 pieces, split into two bags of 30. The roll shape counts out as easily as Original: ten rolls make a label serving, so one bag of 30 fills three small goodie bags of ten.

The label reads differently too. A serving of Acid Up Sour & Spicy Chewy Candy is 10 pieces (30 g) with 100 calories, and the added sugars come to 14 g, 29% of the Daily Value. It is also the one Winis label with sodium on it: 140 mg, 6% of the Daily Value, where the Original, stick and pop labels read 0 mg.
Acid Up is not for a kid who hates heat: there is no plain flavor in the bag, so every piece has chili. Tuck it into a goodie bag for a seven-year-old and it may come home uneaten. Adults who skip spicy food will pass on it too, so don’t make it the only bowl at a family gathering. It also names soy, like Original.

See This Bag on AmazonOur tip for mixed parties: set Acid Up apart, in its own bowl with a small sign. Guests who want heat find it, and nobody grabs a chili chew by mistake while reaching for grape. A folded card that says “with chili” does the job.
Soy matters here because it sits on the federal allergen list. The FDA puts it this way: While many different foods can cause allergic reactions, the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (FALCPA) identified eight foods as major food allergens: milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.
U.S. FDA Both Acid Up Sour & Spicy Chewy Candy and Original Chewy Candy name soy, so a host who knows a guest with that allergy can plan around both bags.
5The Mix bag: many shapes and a few surprises
Winis Mix Variety Bag is the easy answer for a big event. One 3.6 lb bag holds 150 individually wrapped pieces, and the shop page names taffy pops, sticks and minis among the shapes. Named flavors include grape, cherry, raspberry, apple and strawberry, plus others the bag keeps as a surprise. The bag calls itself a Mexican chewy candy assortment, and it gathers the range into one sack.
Weight tells you something about those pieces. A 4 oz bag of Original Chewy Candy holds 50 cubes, while the Mix bag weighs 3.6 lb for its 150. On average a Mix piece weighs more than four times as much as a cube, because sticks and pops share the bag with the minis.

A mix shines in baskets, pails and piñatas, where variety looks generous. It also saves a trip and a chore: one bag covers most of a party, and you don’t have to blend three bags by hand on the kitchen floor. At Halloween, a Winis Mix Variety Bag bag of 150 pieces at two per trick-or-treater covers 75 rings of the doorbell.
The surprise cuts both ways. A picky eater can’t choose a flavor before opening the bag, and you can’t promise a guest grape. The shop page doesn’t give the split of pops, sticks and minis, so you can’t plan an even mix of shapes across goodie bags. One bag of 20 pieces may get three sticks and the next one none.

If you split a Mix bag into goodie bags, sort before you fill. Tip the bag onto a tray and make three piles: pops, sticks and minis. Then deal each pile out in turns, the way you deal cards. Every goodie bag ends up with a similar mix, and no child opens a bag of minis while a sibling gets the sticks.
Leftovers sort as easily. Keep the pops for the next party table and drop the minis into lunchboxes. The sticks hold up in an Easter basket, standing upright in the paper grass.
6Price per piece across the five formats
Price per bag says almost nothing when one bag holds 11 pieces and another holds 150. Price per piece is the number that matters once you split candy among guests. The math is the pack price divided by the pieces inside. Bigger bags and two-bag bundles usually bring that figure down, and the Winis range follows that pattern.
Bundles have a catch, though. Two bags of 150 cubes add up to 300 pieces, and that is a lot of candy for a family of four on a quiet weekend. Buy for the event in front of you, not for the lowest number on the chart. A sealed bag keeps its pieces wrapped, but a cupboard full of candy tends to get eaten.
| Battery | Pack | Pieces | Price | Per piece |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Original Chewy Candy | 2 bags of 150, 300 pieces | 300 | $15.62 | 5¢ |
| Original Chewy Candy | 150 pieces, 12 oz | 150 | $8.00 | 5¢ |
| Original Chewy Candy | 2 bags of 50, 100 pieces | 100 | $9.04 | 9¢ |
| Original Chewy Candy | 50 pieces, 4 oz | 50 | $4.75 | 10¢ |
| Winis Mix Variety Bag | 150 pieces, 3.6 lb | 150 | $17.57 | 12¢ |
| Acid Up Sour & Spicy Chewy Candy | 2 bags of 30, 60 pieces | 60 | $10.47 | 17¢ |
| Unicorn Chewy Taffy Pops | 2 bags, 30 pieces | 30 | $8.74 | 29¢ |
| Unicorn Chewy Taffy Pops | 1 bag, 15 pieces | 15 | $4.59 | 31¢ |
| Unicorn Chewy Candy Sticks | 1 bag, 11 pieces | 11 | $4.80 | 44¢ |
| Unicorn Chewy Candy Sticks | 5 bags, 55 pieces | 55 | $24.00 | 44¢ |
The spread is wide. Original Chewy Candy starts at 5¢ a piece, the lowest in the range, and its bigger bags bring the cost per piece down. The Unicorn sticks start at 44¢ a piece, the highest.
The pops start at 29¢ a piece. Acid Up runs 17¢ a piece. The Mix bag works out to 12¢ a piece.
A higher price per piece is not a bad deal on its own. A stick weighs 11 g, and the label serving for Original is 13 pieces (30 g), so one stick holds about as much candy as five cubes. Compare like for like: by the piece for goodie bags, by the bag for a bowl that people graze from.
For a party, count guests first: twenty kids at five pieces each need 100 pieces. One Mix bag of 150 covers that with pieces left over. Two small bags of Original Chewy Candy, at 50 pieces each, do the same. The Winis party guide runs the full arithmetic for guests and goodie bags.
7Winis Original next to familiar American chews
Many hosts know the American chewy candies by heart and want to see where Winis fits. Three line up easily against Original Chewy Candy, because their makers post label facts: Laffy Taffy Mixed Minis from Ferrara, an Airheads variety pack from Perfetti Van Melle and Starburst Original Fruit Chews from Mars Wrigley.
Laffy Taffy’s page for the Mixed Minis bag gives a serving of 3 bars with 110 calories and 17 g of sugars. It shows no separate added-sugars line and no % Daily Value. The allergen line reads CONTAINS: SOY
Ferrara (Laffy Taffy)
The Airheads pack is the Airheads Candy Variety Pack, 5 Individually Wrapped Assorted Fruit Flavored Bars, 2.75 Ounces
Perfetti Van Melle (Airheads) Its SmartLabel gives one bar (15.6 g) as a serving, with 60 calories and 11 g of added sugars, 22% of the Daily Value. On allergens it says: This product does not contain any of these common food allergens.
Perfetti Van Melle (Airheads) The label also names who makes it: Manufactured By Perfetti van Melle USA Inc.

Starburst’s Sharing Size bag weighs 15.6 oz. A serving is 6 pieces (29 g) with 120 calories and 16 g of added sugars, 32% of the Daily Value. Mars Wrigley describes the chews this way: With STARBURST Original Fruit Chews Candy, there are endless ways to enjoy the individually wrapped chewy fruit flavored squares you know and love.
Mars Wrigley (Starburst) It names four flavors: Let the flavors of strawberry, cherry, orange, and lemon STARBURST guide you on a delicious adventure that will be Different Every Time.
Mars Wrigley (Starburst)
Original Chewy Candy and Starburst land on 120 calories for a serving of about 30 g, but Winis gets there with 13 pieces and Starburst with 6. A Winis cube weighs about half a Starburst square. Its added sugars per serving come to 23 g, 46% of the Daily Value, more than Starburst (16 g) or Airheads (11 g).
Neither fact makes one candy the winner. A bowl of small cubes lets a guest take two pieces instead of a whole bar. One Airheads bar is one serving. Pick by how your guests eat and which flavors they ask for.
8Servings, calories and sugars on the Winis labels
Serving sizes on candy labels confuse people, and the FDA explains what they mean: The serving size reflects the amount that people typically eat or drink. It is not a recommendation of how much you should eat or drink.
U.S. FDA A serving is a unit for reading the panel, not a portion you have to hand out. A host doesn’t count servings at a party, but the numbers help when a parent asks.
The FDA adds a reminder: It’s important to realize that all the nutrient amounts shown on the label, including the number of calories, refer to the size of the serving.
U.S. FDA Total sugars carry no percentage at all: There is no Daily Value* for total sugars because no recommendation has been made for the total amount to eat in a day.
U.S. FDA
That matters across Winis formats, because the serving changes with the shape. Original counts 13 pieces (30 g), and Acid Up counts 10 pieces (30 g). The sticks count 3 pieces (33 g), and the pops count 4 pieces (30 g).
| Battery | Serving | Calories | Total sugars | Added sugars |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unicorn Chewy Candy Sticks | 3 pieces (33 g) | 140 | 23 g | 23 g (46% DV) |
| Unicorn Chewy Taffy Pops | 4 pieces (30 g) | 120 | 21 g | 21 g (43% DV) |
| Original Chewy Candy | 13 pieces (30 g) | 120 | 23 g | 23 g (46% DV) |
| Acid Up Sour & Spicy Chewy Candy | 10 pieces (30 g) | 100 | 14 g | 14 g (29% DV) |
The sticks have 140 calories for three pieces, so one stick comes to about 47. The pops have 120 for four, about 30 a pop. Original has 120 for 13 cubes, about 9 a cube. Acid Up has 100 for 10 pieces, so 10 a piece.
Added sugars carry a % Daily Value, and the FDA sets the base: The Daily Value for added sugars is 50 grams per day based on a 2,000 calorie daily diet.
U.S. FDA It gives a quick rule for reading any percentage: 20% DV or more of a nutrient per serving is considered high
U.S. FDA Every Winis label sits above that line, from 14 g, 29% of the Daily Value for Acid Up to 23 g, 46% of the Daily Value for Original. The sticks share the top figure with Original.
For the youngest kids, the CDC is plain: Foods with added sugars, low-calorie sweeteners, or no-calorie sweeteners are not recommended for infants and young children.
CDC The Winis label guide goes through every line of the panels, allergens included.
9Heat, storage and who each format does not suit
Shared candy sits out. It rides in a backpack, waits in a car before the party and stays in a bowl for hours. The shop pages describe Original, the Unicorn sticks and the pops as non-melting. The Acid Up and Mix pages don’t say either way.
Non-melting is the brand’s word for a party table, not a promise about a dashboard in July. Keep bags in a cool cupboard, out of direct sun, and close them after opening. The wrappers keep each piece apart from the next.
Shelf life is harder to pin down. The USDA FoodKeeper, the federal guide to storing food, has no row for taffy or chewy candy. Its closest shelf-stable row is gummy fruit snacks, at 6 to 9 months in the pantry from the date of purchase. That row covers gummies, not Winis, so if the bag carries a date, go by the bag.
Who each format does not suit
| Format | Does not suit | Try instead |
|---|---|---|
| Original Chewy Candy | A guest who wants one big candy, or a kid who eats only one flavor | Unicorn sticks for one big piece |
| Unicorn Chewy Candy Sticks | Small goodie bags that need even splits, and anyone who dislikes cotton candy | Original cubes, which count out evenly |
| Unicorn Chewy Taffy Pops | A crowd that wants fruit or sour, since cotton candy is the only flavor | Original for fruit, Acid Up for sour |
| Acid Up Sour & Spicy Chewy Candy | A kid who hates heat, since all three flavors carry chili | Original in grape, orange, lime and cherry |
| Winis Mix Variety Bag | A picky eater who wants to choose a flavor before the bag opens | One single-flavor bag, such as the Unicorn pops |
Wrappers matter most at Halloween and Easter, when candy changes hands between neighbors. The FDA tells parents: Inspect commercially wrapped treats for signs of tampering, such as an unusual appearance or discoloration, tiny pinholes, or tears in wrappers.
U.S. FDA It adds: Throw away anything that looks suspicious.
U.S. FDA Its rule for kids is short: Tell children not to accept – and especially not to eat – anything that isn’t commercially wrapped.
U.S. FDA Every Winis format comes wrapped piece by piece, so each one passes that first check.
Toddlers and babies sit outside all five formats, for the reasons the CDC gives on small, sticky foods. For everyone else, the choice comes down to count, shape and flavor. Start with your guest list, and the right bag follows from it.

Questions
Questions about Winis formats
Which Winis candy costs the least per piece?
Original Chewy Candy does, from 5¢ a piece, while the long Unicorn Chewy Candy Sticks start at 44¢ a piece.
How do Winis Original chews compare with Starburst on calories?
A serving of 13 pieces (30 g) of Original Chewy Candy has 120 calories, and Starburst gives 120 calories for 6 pieces (29 g), so Winis splits the same calories into more, smaller pieces.
Is Acid Up a good pick for a kid who doesn’t like spicy food?
No: all three Acid Up flavors carry chili, and a serving is 10 pieces (30 g), so a heat-shy kid does better with Original Chewy Candy in grape, orange, lime and cherry.
